Where Cogwright began
Cogwright opened on Sukhumvit Road in 2011, started by Wanchai Thongsuk after more than a decade working in Swiss-trained service centres across Bangkok. He noticed that most owners had little visibility into what was being done to their watches — invoices arrived without explanation, and turnaround times drifted without notice.
The workshop was built around a different premise: that the person handing over a timepiece deserves to understand what it needs, what will be done, and how long it will take. That principle has shaped every process in the studio — from intake documentation through to final regulation checks before collection.
Today Cogwright handles three service categories — routine servicing, case and dial refinishing, and heritage overhauls — each approached with the same methodical pace. The workshop remains deliberately small so that each piece receives direct attention from the watchmakers rather than being passed through a production queue.

Wanchai Thongsuk
Founder & Head Watchmaker
Over fifteen years in the trade, with a focus on Swiss mechanical calibers and vintage Japanese movements. Trained in Geneva-method servicing before returning to Bangkok.
Napat Siripong
Case Specialist
Specialises in case and bracelet work, crystal fitting, and surface assessment. Takes a considered approach to refinishing, always discussing options with the owner before picking up a polishing cloth.
Pachara Kanchanawong
Service Coordinator
Manages intake assessments, owner communications, and documentation. The person you will speak with when you first contact Cogwright and the one who keeps you informed throughout the service period.
Standards
How we work
Intake Documentation
Each piece is logged on arrival with condition notes, serial information where visible, and photographs of the case, dial, and movement. This record travels with the watch through every stage.
Calibrated Timing Equipment
Movements are tested on a multi-position timing machine before and after service. Readings are recorded and included in the service report handed to the owner on collection.
Swiss-Grade Lubricants
We use Moebius lubricant grades appropriate to each movement type and component — not universal oils. The correct viscosity at each point of the caliber is not a detail we overlook.
Secure Chain of Custody
Your watch is assigned a bench reference on intake. Access is limited to the watchmaker working on that piece. No items share a bench or move between workstations without a logged handoff.
Owner Consent at Each Stage
If an assessment reveals additional needs beyond the original scope, work pauses and the owner is contacted. No additional tasks are undertaken without explicit agreement and a revised cost outline.
Ultrasonic Cleaning Protocol
Components are cleaned in a temperature-controlled ultrasonic bath using watch-specific cleaning and rinsing solutions. Drying is carried out before any lubrication begins.

Watch servicing in Bangkok — done with intention
Bangkok is home to a wide range of watch repair options, from large authorised service centres to small market-stall workshops. Cogwright sits between those two poles — smaller and more personal than a manufacturer's facility, more methodical and better-equipped than a generalist shop.
The watches that come through Cogwright's doors span a broad range: vintage dress watches passed down through families, contemporary automatics used daily, Japanese quartz pieces that hold sentimental value despite a modest original cost, and complicated Swiss movements that demand precise knowledge of their specific caliber architecture.
Working across this range requires a versatile toolkit and a willingness to research. When an unfamiliar movement arrives, the reference library — physical and digital — is consulted before the first screw is turned. Knowing the tolerances and known weak points of a caliber before opening it is not optional; it shapes how the work proceeds.
The Cogwright workshop does not chase volume. Pieces are taken on at a pace that allows each one adequate bench time. Owners who prefer to discuss their watch before committing are welcome to bring it in for a conversation — no pressure, no obligation to proceed.
